Welcome to Summerville, SC!

   Welcome to the Lowcountry!

Summerville, South Carolina....also known as the "Flowertown in the Pines".  Come experience the charm and feel of a small town with all the amenities of a big city!

Old and new come together in harmony here...Discover the historic district with it's lovely shops and beautifully cared for historic homes. Then visit one of several modern shopping centers or grab a bite to eat in one of many terrific restaurants.   You'll also fine excellent medical facilities, highly sought after schools, great parks, and of course, many wonderful neighborhoods.

Civic pride and Southern hospitality are never in short supply as you'll see if you attend one of the many special events hosted by the Town of Summerville.  Visit Azalea Park in the spring for "Sculpture in the South" or gather at the Town Square for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in December.  Don't miss the Flowertown Festival every Spring when thousands turn out to see artisans from across the country display their crafts and be sure to get a "taste of the town" by sampling cuisine from local restaurants.  The little ones can even take a spin on several rides.

How about spending a lazy Saturday morning visiting the Summerville Farmer's market?  Pick up some fresh, local grown fruit and vegetables to prepare for your lunch or dinner.  Then save the "Third Thursday" of the month when Summerville's shops, restaurants and art galleries stay open late.  Come stroll the historic district, browse the shops or grab a bite to eat!

The Summerville YMCA has a big presence in our community and has much to offer.   Sign up for team sports, work out at the gym or take some swim lessons.  With all the many programs to choose from, there's something for everyone.  There are now three locations within Summerville, with the newest facility being completed in 2009.

Summerville is also convenient to the wonderful city of Charleston where you'll find even more first rate restaurants, fine shops and many historical attractions.  Cultural events abound here, highlighted by the annual Spoleto Festival.  Also close by are beautiful, pristine beaches and plenty of opportunities for other outdoor recreation such as golfing, boating and fishing.

Those who live here already know...we are lucky to have it all!  With a temperate climate, modern conveniences mixed with natural beauty and an incredible history, the lowcountry of South Carolina is a wonderful place to call home!
